In poker, all the players put the starting bet to the pot. This happens automatically.
After this, everyone is dealt five cards. Each player is able to see their own cards and no one else's. Once the cards have been dealt, each player can change the cards they want during their turn. If you wish to change three cards, those cards will be taken from you and three new ones will be given. The cards in hand will be always automatically ordered from the smallest to the highest.
Once all the players have changed their cards, you are able to raise bets. If one player raises the bet all the others have to pay at least that amount to stay in the game.
Once the raises have been made, all the participating players. cards are shown. The player with the best cards wins the whole pot.
The different alternatives from best to worse:
If two players have one pair, then the higher pair wins. For example a pair of sevens is better than a pair of fives. "Clean" combinations are better than those created with wild cards. Therefore A-A-5-4-3 wins A-wild card-6-4-3. If this still does not decide the winner, the highest following card wins. For example, between A-A-5-4-3 and A-A-6-4-3 the latter is better because 6 is higher than 5.
If two players have the exact same cards in hand, the stake goes to the player who was first in turn. Therefore the pot always goes to only one player.
Unlike in poker, in this game all players do not pay the starting bet in the beginning. Only the next from the dealer will pay so called a small blind (=half of starting bet) to the pot and the following after the previous player bets a big blind (=starting bet).
After this, all players are dealt two cards and the first round of antes begins. The blinds paid in the beginning are taken into consideration and therefore if nobody raises the bet, the player who put down the large blind does not have to put anything to the pot to still stay in the game.
After the first ante round is player, three common cards are put down to the table. An ante round is played, one more card is put down, ante round again, one more card is put down and the final ante round is played.
The idea is of the game is that you can create your five card hand whichever way you want using your two cards and the five cards on the table. If you, for example, have A-7 and the cards on the table are A-Q-10-7-5 then you have two pairs (A-A-7-7). If you want, you don't have to use any of the cards in hand. If you have 3-5 in hand and A-K-Q-J-10 are on the table, then you have a straight. However, you should to remember that everybody else is also able to use the same cards.
The best hand is automatically put down for you by the game and you do not need to do this. The player who has the best hand wins the pot. If two or more players have the same hand the pot is divided among those players.
Blackjack is a game played against the dealer, so it can be played alone. It is, however, possible to play the game with 2-5 players at one table similtaneously. The cards and bets of other players do not affect your own game, your fellow players play against the dealer as well.
Points
In Blackjack the cards from 2-10 are worth their own values. Cards J, Q and K are worth ten points each. An Ace is worth 1 or 11 points, depending on which value serves the best score. All cards in hand will be summed up, the closer they sum to 21 the better. A hand that sums 21 with two cards only (an ace and a 10 point card) is rather special. This combo is way better than 21 points made by three or more cards and is called Blackjack. Make sure you do not exceed 21 though, if you do, you lose!
Playing The Game
When the game starts each player has to place a starting bet. The minimum stake allowed depends on the gameroom level (beginners, advanced or professionals) the player has selected to play. After placing bets each player receives two cards and the dealer (table) takes one. Players choose in turns whether to take more cards (Hit) or not. A player can take another hit as long as the hand's value is below 21. Once the players have played their games, the dealer plays his own. The dealer is obliged to take another card as long as the value of his cards on the table is under 16. The dealer is obliged to stop when the value exceeds 17.
After the dealer's turn, all hands are checked. If a player has a better hand than the dealer has, he/she will win his/her stake back in double value. If the player.s hand is smaller than the dealer's, the player loses his/her bet. In a draw situation the player only gets his/her stake back. With draws an exceptional situation occurs when a player has Blackjack and the dealer has not; the player wins his/her stake back 2,5 times.
There are two exceptional situations in the game:
Doubling: If the sum of the first two cards of a player is 9, 10 or 11, the player can double his/her bet. If the player decides to double the bet, only one card will be dealt to him/her. The player can also choose to continue the game without doubling.
Even money: If a player has Blackjack and the dealer has an Ace on the table, the player can take even money. If the player chooses to take the even money, his/her bet will be returned double the value. If the player decides not to take the even money, the game will continue and the winnings depend on the dealer geting a Black Jack or not.
The pot cannot be raised so much that one of the remaining players is unable to pay the ante. Therefore, if someone has only 15 chips left the bet cannot be 20 chips.
There is a pause of 5 to 20 seconds between rounds in the game when a player is able to exit the table. If you leave the table during a round, you lose the starting bet you put down during that round. The game automatically finishes for those players who do not have enough chips to continue playing.
Good luck!
